Rospuda

The Rospuda river flows through nine lakes and links two divergent lands:
Suwałki Landlake rich in glacial sculpture and flat, plain outwash of Augustowski Forest. This is the trail with heterogeneous nature of the river and its surroundings: from almost mountainous type of river with high wooded banks, rocky bottom of the breakthroughs to a strongly meandering lowland river with marshy banks covered by rushes.

Obstacles such as the rocky shoals of the fast current, fallen trees blocking the riverbed, boulders and piles protruding from the water, and hefting the kayak create astonishing attraction for adventure seeking kayakers.

During kayaking down the Rospuda river there are many unforgettable attractions waiting for you such as windsurfing, volleyball tournament and a feast for the palate - daily delicious regional dinners and sweet pancakes with raisins on the route

Additional attractions on the route:


• guided sightseeing of Word War II bunkers near Bakałarzewo, where the Museum of Eastern Front is located
• hefting the kayak twice while crossing the river close to old mills in Bakałarzewo and in Małe Raczki ( nowadays hydro power station)
• visiting the ruins of the ancient Pac`s palace of the Gothic Revival style in Dowspuda
• camping at a sacred place called `Uroczysko Sumowo`( a mysterious ancient place of religious worship which has an interesting legend)
• wooden bridges on the river ( watch your head)
